Sunday in Drew Barrymore's kitchen...

Drew Barrymore is selling her Montecito estate and looking through the rooms, her kitchen caught my eye.  I'm not sure I like it, though I love yellow and wood counters, it doesn't seem all that user-friendly. What do you think of the two fridges next to each other? Do you like this kitchen or would you do a complete gut renovation? I think I would change it big time starting with the floor.

What say you?  Do you love it or hate it?

Have a great weekend!!

Best of MI...Spaah on Sunday...The Maldives...

WELCOME!

A lot has happened in my life since I posted this - life changing events that are huge, so this photo speaks to me on a very cold winter Sunday. What I wouldn't give to be right here, right now - how fantastic that would be. Not a surprise the resort is called 'Shangri-La, right?!!

The Maldives have just been added to my bucket list.  What travel destinations are on your bucket list?  Start saving now! Have a great Sunday- I won't be watching the Super Bowl, but, I will be watching 'Downton Abbey' - I'm addicted are you?

FROM AUGUST 2011:

After a pretty stressful week, I decided to post a real spa photo that frankly, speaks volumes. I would love to be at this resort in the Maldives getting a massage, wouldn't you??

Oh how I wish I was here!

Spaah on Sunday...again...

I couldn't resist showing you the tub I had in my hotel room in Quebec. This is a Bain Ultra tub that is an experience, with air bubbles, aromatherapy and chromatherapy. For total wellness, relaxation and therapy for the mind and body, look no further than the Bain Ultra products.

This is the Pro Meridian tub with air bubbles and chromatherapy, which is light therapy; red for stimulation, blue for calming etc.

Another setting with the Pro Meridian...

I tried both the Calm and the Energy oils - both wonderful. The Calm is great at night to help you relax before bed and the Energy is a mud bath and very stimulating before a night out.  The Energy has a very strong aroma of pine! For more information and to purchase a tub go here - Bain Ultra is the originator of the thermomasseur or air bubble tub, made in Canada. Bain Ultra also has a blog - go here for some more inspiration.

Hope your weekend has been great!

Spaah on Sunday...

This is a beautiful white and sparkly spa shower gleaming with mod glass and white tiles...the vanity has a lovely soft skirt, while a white linen blind covers the window. The flowers add color as well as a feminine touch.  Don't you just want to step in for a hot shower?? Also, I hate to say that I got a contact dermatitis from my glasses, so I treated myself to the Estee Lauder gift at my local Macy's after purchasing their most sought-after skin serum, the Advanced Night Repair.  Have you tried this world-renowned product?

Gorgeous light and bright spa bath...and my gift to myself below...(I spy a Kohler rainshower and Roda shower door!)

The fabulous Estee Lauder - I have wanted to try these products for ages but the gifts always have makeup and I want to try the skincare.  Got my wish!

Hope you all have a great Sunday!! and best wishes for the week ahead - I will be back tomorrow with some great shopping bargains!!

Spaah on Sunday...

I'm sure many of you will recognize this super-chic bathroom from my fave mag, Domino, but, if you don't, it belongs to Jenna Lyons of J. Crew fame. The unusual black decor lends itself to a soothing and serene aesthetic...surprisingly.  I don't know if I would choose black, but it does seem to work in this space, what do you think?

Notice the wall the tub is against is not black, giving the eye some relief.  I love these  vintage tubs and would incorporate them into any bathroom, if possible!

Look at this gorgeous Oriental style bathroom - the circular tub, shower and tiles are stunning. Hurricane Irene has now been downgraded to Tropical Storm Irene and we are currently getting lots of rain with some wind, but the worst is yet to come later today.  So, I am blogging and surfing the net while I can! I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!

Love the shower without any doors or curtains...European of course...for more information about this spa, go here.

Spaah on Sunday...

I am late posting again today since I was late yesterday...I took a little day trip out to the coast and had a lovely lunch on the water with a breeze blowing and the sun shining. So, this picture seemed appropriate as we near the end of summer here...but, let's not rush it, the warmth should be around for awhile. Have a great week!

Imagine this view every day of the year...bliss...aahh...

Spaah on Sunday...

Now, for something completely different...I have a client who is looking to add an outdoor shower to her deck and it immediately took me back to my childhood best friend's beach house on the Jersey Shore (Long Beach Island to be exact) who had a fabulous outdoor shower that I loved using. After a day at the beach its a great way to wash out the sand, the hair and the bod while still feeling a cool breeze. It is such a great way to shower, I love the idea of these...would you add an outdoor shower to your home anywhere? why not??

Because we are inching our way toward summer, I thought this shot was a lot more appropriate. It is a gorgeous and breezy spring day here in New England and I am thinking about beaches and pools.  What will you be doing? Enjoy the great day!

Here is a great little tub with an even better view. I love that the homeowner added plants to blend in with the scenery outdoors. Watching the French Open as I type and hoping that Rafa will win...enjoy your Sunday!

I could relax here for awhile with a nice cup of hot tea and a design mag...you?

Well, its Sunday again and my first day off for the week...relaxing baths are something that I want and try to visualize when I choose photos for this column.  So, I go to England again for inspiration...no one does bathrooms like the British and this copper tub is a showstopper! What a spectacular looking room with the ceiling, the window, the chandelier, the brick and the copper sink to match!!

Wouldn't you love to bathe in this tub?? Have a wonderful Sunday!! By the way, I finally saw 'The King's Speech' last night and LOVED it...if you haven't seen it already, do go, its great!

I guess I am in the mood for spring and flowers, so this dressing room/bath combination is just the ticket. The lovely rug and floral screen for privacy mixed with the velvet chaise and metal tub look so inviting on this lazy Sunday don't you think? I love the idea of the bath in a dressing room or bedroom. So cozy and relaxing.

Spaah on Sunday...

I recently discovered this fantastic design firm and now I am hooked. I spent a bit of time going through their portfolio, love it and am very impressed. For a lot more from this mother-daughter design team, Caldwell Flake based in Alabama, go here. Check out this glamorous bathroom - it knocked me out and I'd love to know if you love it too:

Aaah, well, the yellow and silver wallpaper, silver ottoman tucked in the corner, monogrammed towel, white marble, silk curtains, large tub for soaking (maybe even a whirlpool) - just stunning. I would love to spend a morning lingering in here, how about you? Hope you are having a great Sunday!!
