Its all in the mix...

This is a project I worked on in a Florida condo and the fabrics are really what makes the room. Its all in the mix, the colors and the textures. I added a white shag rug with fabrics of suede, cotton, silk and, a shiny, glamorous wallpaper behind the bed. The side tables are glass and there is a fireplace in the room to add the coziness.  I used Martha Stewart's 'Shantung' paint color, which is a gorgeous purple-gray that I originally saw in one of my favorite House Beautiful layouts of a Hal Williams designed home in New Orleans.

Top fabric is suede, middle cotton and then the wallpaper...

The purple and the striped fabric are both silk...
