Spaaahhh...

Thinking of relaxing on a Monday after work...this bath looked so inviting and the wallpaper is my absolute fave from Osborne & Little (Asuka)...I love, love it...the big tub and the bit of gold fabric at the window - makes me want a new bath right now...my beloved little kitty cat had a low blood sugar episode tonight, but, after getting Karo syrup in his mouth and making sure he ate, he is thankfully, ok now (and asleep in a little box). I thought I was going to rush him to emergency...hence, the relaxing spa image...now I can breathe...

Sunday in the kitchen...

Hello readers!! I am soooo happy to be back...my laptop met an unfortunate fate with some hot coffee (!) and it has been a long week away from my favorite pastime! I am now working on my new, though reconditioned laptop and wanted desperately to post. I love this kitchen with natural wood tones and beautiful red and white blinds and red paint. A very cheery and comfortable breakfast nook from Ideal Home magazine. I was reading UK mags all weekend and was inspired by the European aesthetic. Please visit me again this week as I have a special treat in store for you that I had to put off because of the laptop disaster. So, thank you for visiting and I will see you all here tomorrow! Have a wonderful week!!

Fabulous Fabric Fridays...Richard Smith...

'Fairlight' - Richard's 17th century farmhouse

I'm sorry I'm so late with this post but I spilled hot coffee on my laptop keyboard and it stopped working! Needless to say, I purchased a keyboard that is spill-proof (!!) so it is just a quick fix until I decide to take my laptop in for some 'surgery...'  I digress...welcome to Jolly Old England for this post. Highlighting a fabulous textile designer in the UK - Richard Smith who has redone his country home and uses ALL his own fabrics to decorate...I think you will like what you see - I can't decide which room I like best...:))

Richard has designed fabrics for F. Schumacher and Warner Fabrics...

'Cecily' hand printed silk...

I love all of the rooms, but the turquoise linen fabric in the dining room and these curtains above are particularly beautiful...Richard has done different collections for 'No. 9 Thompson' and you can see more here.  Since living in England, I have a soft spot for all things British and of course, British design.  Thank you for spending a little time with me this week and I hope you all have a great weekend!! I have something special for you next week so please stop in again! xx :))

The Green Scene...Alys Beach...

Domestically grown wood, low VOC paint and energy star appliances highlight the kitchen...

Alys Beach is an eco-community in Florida on the northern Gulf coast and this is a model home designed by Georgia Carlee of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Alys Beach is a planned community with attractive buildings and houses just a 5 minute walk from shopping, offices and restaurants. There are lots of sidewalks to encourage residents to walk everywhere. The model home is a truly eco-conscious design project from the kitchen to the exterior of the house.

100% cotton fabrics by naturalLee by Lee Industries, woven wood blinds and 100% wool rugs...

Shelves and bedside table made with recycled wood, linen bed panels and curtains and 100% wool rug in the bedroom...

Outdoor fabrics by Sunbrella highlight the veranda...Sunbrella is fade-resistant,  certified as low in chemical emissions and safe to use indoors too.

The beautiful architecture inspired by homes in Bermuda and Guatemala...

The whitewashed buildings stay cool and the houses have courtyards to keep Gulf breezes flowing through all the time...

Before and after...lake view...

I thought it was fun to see the difference between these two photos. My view over the weekend...the morning was bright, sunny and clear...

I loved the light across the lake as the sun set after 6pm...it had a golden quality and the sky was different colors too...so pretty...which one do you prefer? the morning view with some tea or coffee or the evening view with a nice glass of wine?
