Do you like the design of this room?...

I would LOVE your feedback on the design of this room in a house in Maine that is featured in the new House Beautiful...I am not sure I like the mix of furniture and styles in this room - it somehow doesn't seem to work for me. The Moroccan rug, the Saarinen table and the wicker chairs (which I love). Now, what also bothers me, are the floral curtains that really clash with the rather hideous Victorian settee. HB states that the designer Tom Scheerer "deftly put together a disparate mix in the living room of a coastal Maine house." Hmmm, just because its in this magazine, doesn't mean its true either right??  Do you think this mixes well?

The other rooms in the house are lovely...I would love to read your comments on this room...thanks for visiting me and I hope everyone has a great Friday!!

  1. Hmm, that rug really bothers me the most. I can live with the curtains and chairs, but maybe not that mirror either. I like eclectic but this is a bit 'scratchy', or something?

  3. It's a bit of a strange mix. I love the wicker chairs but not in that room and I don't think the mirror mixes well with the cutesy floral of the drapes and settee. Perhaps if the drapes were a solid colour, then the mirror would fit in a little better?

  4. I love the coffee table, and that's about it. Harsh, I know but this room does not work for me at all. With different fabrics, rug and not the wicker chairs, I think it would be a vast improvement. I think the sofa is a fun style though, it should stay in a different solid fabric. That's my professional opinion, and I'm sticking to it! :)
