The Hadley touch...

Yesterday the iconic designer Albert Hadley passed away. If you haven't heard of him (I know you have) he partnered with Sister Parish to create one of the most world-renowned design firms in the history of interior design catering to the rich and famous, including the Jackie Kennedy White House renovation of the family quarters (among many others).  He created wallpapers (one of my favorites is black and white polka dots) and designed this beautiful home in New Jersey. I grew up in NJ and it frequently gets a bad rap, but, for those in the know, there are many beautiful parts of the state and some of the most affluent towns in the nation.  I thought I would highlight just one of his projects in New Jersey that I thought was just gorgeous:

The 1820 Colonial in NJ - gorgeous

I featured this photo last year - I LOVE this entrance foyer...
note the fabulous color of the door with an eagle on it...

Note the unusual furniture arrangement, spare design & plain windows...

A settee that Albert covered years before in chintz the entrance hall - a perfect mix here...

The library with putty colored batten...

Gorgeous bed in a minimal furnished space...

The symmetry, colors, antiques and overall feeling are fantastic in this house - what do you think?

I was supposed to fly to London this morning, but have an upper respiratory infection, aka the common cold and was unable to go...not the end of the world, I will be going later this month! Hope you are having a fantastic weekend!!

  1. His style is such an inspiration and I can see so many elements that inspire modern design. I particularly love that chintz settee, and that bedroom is amazing (he obviously knew how to pick a popular paint colour before his time!). xx
