Gotta have these...

I have been so busy at work that I didn't even do a post last week of my picks for the week.  So far, so good today, though, it was hectic. We are really busy which is a good thing and hopefully a sign that the economy is starting to move, if just a little.  I love looking at lamps and rugs and have my eyes peeled for a cute bistro set for the summer.

Castleberry Rug 5x8 SALE $159.00

Palm Desert Bistro Set $129.00

Owl Lamp SALE $35.99

I really LOVE this lamp - the black + white is perfect, I love owls and the touch of 'animal' for a room other than zebra or leopard.  The rug would be a gorgeous graphic addition to a room (and the lamp would go perfectly with it!) and how sweet is the bistro set (which also comes in a sunny yellow)?  I would love to sit there reading a good design mag with a cup of tea wouldn't you? Have a great week!

Ocean mood board...

I put together a little mood board of a simple, soothing bathroom design with turquoise, greens, blues, silvers and creamy paint with natural wood to inspire you on a Sunday morning. I love the artwork I found as it perfectly fits the outdoorsy aesthetic of this room. What do you think? Would you love to live in it?

Saturday in the kitchen...

Before going to work, I thought I would post an image of a sleek kitchen that caught my eye. I love the white floors with the black cabinets.  The lighting is pretty too. Would you design your kitchen with this modern aesthetic?

5 Design Solutions for a Small Bath Remodel...

Many of my customers come to my showroom struggling with what to do with a smaller than normal bathroom. They live in very old homes where the bathroom was an afterthought, so they are faced with how to update and modernize the space, while still keeping it respectful to the age of the house.

Here are my top five (5) design solutions that I have found not only work to make the space look and feel larger, but, also to update it with a fresh, modern aesthetic:

1. Make use of the natural light with a window - if there isn't one, can you add a window? If not, mirrors, mirrors, mirrors! Use them to reflect as much light as possible from the windows and apply lots of white paint adding chrome or brushed nickel accessories. Add bold color with towels, accent paint and accessories -

2.  If you don't need storage in a vanity, then a pedestal sink is a must-have OR even a petite wall-hung sink that will not take up much room and will make the space LOOK larger:

Wall hung sink: note the bold orange wall color...

3.  Using glass for a shower surround instead of a curtain or sliding doors on a tub unit will also give the illusion of a larger space:

Wall hung with mirrors:

4.  Making storage go 'up' the wall and ideally, if you have no room, consider floating wood or glass shelves to keep soaps, towels and essentials displayed within easy reach (but NOT over the toilet):

5. I always advise clients to consider using a single hole faucet for a granite vanity top OR on a pedestal. It makes cleaning easy and gives you a lot more counter space!

Kohler's Forte Single Control Lavatory faucet is just one of the many popular choices for a bathroom sink. Depending on your style, chrome or brushed nickel will always look stylish. (Image)

If you are considering a bath remodel, I hope these solutions have answered some of your questions.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend! I will be back tomorrow -

Have you seen the NUMI?...

Kohler's new toilet that has more features than any other toilet - the NUMI, is spectacular and I should know, since I use it every day at work.  The Granite Group is the only location with a working NUMI toilet in New England. Here is a rundown of the features that are programmable with an 'IPAD' type of gadget to go with it: Heated seat, front and rear bidet, blow dryer, music, self-cleaning, automatic eco-flush, motion-activated seat, feet warming and a deodorizer. Whew! Is that all??? Oh, did I forget night-light function?  So behold, and if you are in the Boston area, take a short trip over the New Hampshire border to see and use the NUMI! Please contact me here -

Saturday in the kitchen...

Sorry I have been missing this week...my co-worker was out of the showroom and I was alone with our part-time girl, so it was beyond busy and I didn't have any energy left by the time I got home to post anything.  This kitchen is so fresh, clean and just plain cool...I want mine to look like it! I especially love the metal details on the door and the Ghost Chairs...enjoy the day!

So cool...image
