More shots of the teapot and cup & saucer...I did adjust the lighting on these on my computer a bit...this was so much fun putting together! Thanks again to Leslie of 'A Creative Mint'...
Here are some more images with the blurry foreground and background. The first photo is a little too blurry and the eggcups are from Selfridges in London - I keep them on my stove for decoration because the colors are so pretty.
After setting up my photography studio, I decided to shoot two Cath Kidston items...I love her china and just bought this lovely little teapot yesterday to add to my tiny collection of one little mug!
After reviewing Leslie's great tips and a couple of other bloggers' tips, I think these look good. I have a lot of windows in my kitchen, and on the ceiling as well, so it was hard to control the light. I hung a sheer curtain to diffuse some of the light and actually figured out how to take these without the dang flash going off! I am very impressed with my Canon and didn't realize what I could do with it before because I never took the time to experiment. Well, shame on me!
I really enjoyed this exercise - I tried taking pictures like these when I was 18 (long ago!) with another Canon camera - the now-defunct Canon Canonet. I am just thrilled with these results and I hope Leslie will think so too. What do you think? did you set up a studio and follow Leslie's instructions? how did your pix come out?
OK! here are four images of my style file/mood board for the 'Blogging Your Way' class with the fab Holly of 'Decor8' and Leslie from 'A Creative Mint'...after making my own 'photo studio' in my kitchen, I think these don't look too bad...I have so many different things I love, but I like this board. One thing is sure: I love cats and animal prints! What do you think?
Living in New England, you get used to this scene and you either love it or...think its ok. We just got blasted with snow overnight as the storm that walloped Washington DC and New York has made its way up to Boston and points north. Looks like it will be a white Christmas this year, which suits me just fine! Is it snowing where you live? do you like snow at the holidays?
Here are my fabric choices for a small library in a condo for a school project...I want to put the red swirly on a Swedish-style settee and the other fabrics on more modern chairs. I will add lucite tables and possibly a zebra rug for the floor...the fabrics to the left are 'tweedy' looking and cotton. I love, love the swirly and didn't want to give it up! The room is in Florida and I didn't want to do the usual library in leather and panelled walls etc...
Rachel Ashwell has re-opened her flagship Santa Monica store as 'Shabby Chic Couture' - how exciting that she is back and she has a new book out this month..."Shabby Chic Interiors: My Rooms, Treasures and Trinkets"
Country style in New England where I live can be cottage style: painted wicker, floral pillows and bright colors; it can be Adirondack style which is woodsy, log cabins and deer antlers; it can also be Americana: red, white and blue quilts, picnic tables and flags...these are just a few and I included my own pictures to show just a couple...
I took this in Vermont last weekend - the lovely Battenkill River...so hot outside, there is a swimming hole just out of the shot - cold water, very refreshing!
This is my car - I love it and I love the color; its the only car I've driven that strangers comment on...great on mileage, great on gas and roomy inside.
What a beautiful flower...I went into a store and admired them on display, so the woman working there gave me two to bring home. They stayed in full bloom for 2 weeks...
