Fab fashion...inspiration...

Time for a little change of pace!  I love fashion and thought I would share a couple of items from two European brands that are so chic, there is something for everyone, especially petites, which is what I am.  I have trouble finding clothes that fit me properly and usually find the petite sections are woefully short of chic clothes as compared to regular sizes.  I can wear some regular size shirts, but, trousers, coats, bathing suits and sweaters usually have to be cut in a petite size.  I included a couple of handbags, because, well,  I LOVE LOVE handbags as I'm sure you do too.

How do you find your clothing?  I also find sizes vary from brand to brand, which is apparently normal.  One reason I love Chico's is that you can buy your sizes in 1, 2 or 3!! How great is that?  Let me know any shopping secrets you may have, I would love to hear!

Deep greens and blues...

'...are the colors I choose, won't you let me go down in my dream...' - who remembers the James Taylor song 'Sweet Baby James?'  That line always stuck with me and creating this post, its going through my head!  Feast your eyes on this beautiful color combo combining blue sky with nature's color, green. What is your favorite? Do you decorate with blues and greens?

Happy Sunday!

The richer palette part 2...

Following my post yesterday highlighting a beautiful and more glamorous palette for the home with deep blue, green and hot pink, I have found furniture and accessories in the same colors to go in the home, so its sort of a 'Gotta have these' kind of day - enjoy your Sunday and tell me which piece and color you want to include in your next project or home!

Just for fun! I love this hot pink lamp from Kohl's

And here is a dresser I painted orange:

I bought this for 50 cents from my neighbor-
it was a mishmash of blue + white with
ugly metal pulls that were rusted. I
replaced those with wooden knobs from
Home Depot and painted them to match the
bureau with Sherwin Williams 'Rejuvenate' -

I copied the two colors that were used here:

By Tobi Fairley in Traditional Home - I
also painted my side tables in the turquoise -
I love this color combo -do you?

Gotta have these!!

Welcome to Sunday! After some snow here in Downeast Maine, it seems to have stopped now so I will head out for a walk on the beach soon.  I have been seeing a lot of blue in the magazines, in fashion, art and inspiration, so I chose three items that can easily blend into your decor with almost any color scheme. What are you up to today?

This is a gorgeous Navajo throw from
Pendleton - the Legend Lake Throw $188

Target has a new line of curtains, Room 365
Geometric Window Panel $27.99-$32.99

Home Decorators Collection never disappoints and
this blue lamp, the Ava is $139 with free shipping

Tour my cottage...

I recently downsized from a 2,000+ square foot home to a little over 600 feet of living space. With this change, I had to get rid of a lot of furniture, stuff, lamps, knick-knacks, clothes, shoes, handbags...well, you get the idea.  It was a very cathartic experience and I am currently living in about two rooms. I had most of the furniture here, all I brought were my two favorite rugs,  (from my mother and grandmother) a chair, two ottomans and some pillows. Welcome to my little cottage by the lake!!:

Living room rug my mother gave me -

Bedroom vignette with shabby dresser bought for $95
and Anne Harwell print -

Sitting room (and guest room) with Chinese art deco rug that belonged to my
grandmother, $69 IKEA chair, vintage leather stool, fabric throw
from Israel and Scooter the cat
sleeping...;-))

Hallway with IKEA mirrors bought years ago, vintage sign...

View into the living room with a wicker chair bought for $10 and
painted bright yellow by me...

Hallway with Scooter who wants to go out...;-)) the floor
is brick -

Reflection in vintage mirror I painted yellow...settee bought
at vintage store for $125 -

Rug details...curtains from JC Penney bought years ago...they are
blue + white check -

Print by Gray Harwell and a thrift store mirror -

(images by me)

My favorite plants and view out the kitchen window - woods
and more woods - perfect for 'serenity now!' - a view of
woods is supposed to be great 'Feng Shui' -

I painted the cottage white and added lots of yellow, blue and
turquoise...gorgeous colors that I love to live with -

Thanks for joining me on my little cottage tour - I didn't make the
photos look too 'glamorous' or stage it too much, so you will
notice shoes, a wire and a box for Scootie to sleep in - ;-0

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!!

Colorful jewelry...

I just bought a couple of pieces of jewelry I wanted to share since they are so beautiful and I think you will like them...I love turquoise, but wanted something a bit different. I am still drawn to blues and greens...for more of these pieces, which are handmade right here in New England, go here. The colors are so inspirational and I would love to see a room in these colors wouldn't you??

Saturday in the kitchen...

Its Saturday again and time for another inspirational kitchen...from Ideal Home UK, a great magazine that always has really informative design tips and photos.  This lovely pale blue kitchen highlights the use of a floral pattern while keeping the furniture simple with warm wood tones. Look at the pretty pottery lining the open shelves too. I love the chest to the left of the table - because it doesn't look like a traditional kitchen cabinet.

Saturday in the kitchen...

What grabbed me in this kitchen is the pale blue cabinets...so pretty! I like the black countertops and warm wood floor too...and the pop of color at the window.  The sink and faucet are the main reason for choosing this lovely English country kitchen!

Do you like painted cabinets and dark countertops?  Are you partial to the apron-front sinks too or do you prefer stainless or china??

Hoping you have a great weekend! Thank you as always for joining me here this week, I love having you and reading your comments!
