Inspiration: Target

For all the budget shoppers who love natural texture, a bit of the old west and my favorite trend of the moment, gold, look no further for furniture and objet's de art than Target. Always on trend and so affordable, it is worth visiting one of the newly designed stores. They have vastly improved their home sections into livable vignettes that allow the shopper better visualization for their purchases.

Top 8 living rooms...

Hello Bloggers!  I have compiled a list of my picks for the top 8 living rooms.  Please keep in mind these are only my choices and I know there are thousands of living rooms out there that deserve inclusion, but, courtesy of House Beautiful, my choices have lots of similarities as you will discover.  What makes a great room? Color? Texture? Balance? All of the above? Which is your favorite and why?

How is your weekend going?  I spent the day yesterday out in the New Jersey countryside, yes, New Jersey has fabulous country, at the Far Hills Race Meeting.  It is a steeplechase horse racing event on grass for charity and didn't disappoint. Lots of tailgate parties, tweed, wellies and wine to go with it.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Mauve walls, leggy French furniture, gold
accents, natural blinds, silky curtains, crystal chandelier

I LOVE French and Swedish furniture
in this type of room - it always looks
beautiful and adds 'legs' -

See any similarities?  I do - lots of white, animal
accessories, gold accents, natural elements,
pops of color, symmetry in some of the rooms;
my favorite room has mauve walls, but I could
see them with a soft white as well - this room is perfect to
me.  The crystal, the gold and the furniture are
just wonderful; I only wish I could see the front of
the sofa!!  I have studied this room ad nauseam and I never
tire of it.  Great design should never be tiresome, it
should always be inspiring.

With that said, I am available for e-design from anywhere
in the world - please visit my 'Services' page for information-
I am flexible as well, depending upon the project or work
needed.

Do you have a favorite room from this list? Please let
me know which one and why in the comments below!

Best of MI...vintage + traditional = inspiration...

Its almost the end of 2012 and my posts have been sporadic as I was enjoying a week off...I want to show a 'Best of Monaco Interiors' series so here is the first post focusing on the beautiful work of designer Berkley Vallone, featured back in April...I just love her style and you will too - happy Sunday!! xoxo

I got my new Traditional Home magazine and was completely blown away by the pictures of the homes. Gone are the uninspired homes they have regularly featured! This issue has one house after another of really unique and different looking homes - traditional with a vintage and colorful twist! One designer really stands out for me - Berkley Vallone, who lives in Scottsdale, AZ and has a really charming and quirky home. See what you think:

Vintage trunk with a 'B' on it...

Whimsical teacup clock...

Gold details in the entrance hall...

Glamorous powder room...

More whimsy in the form of a lamp...cute dog too!

'B' on a pillow...

Check out this cake! wow!

Concrete counters, blue tiles, colorful dishes...looks like Orla Kiely...

Wow, wow - Lee Jofa paper, Jonathon Adler accessories, Elkay faucet!
what a laundry room!! Love the black + white...

Gorgeous leopard chair in the master...
Berkley and her mother run their own design company -

What do you think? Love it?

Hope you are all having a great Sunday!

Fashion runway to home...

Fashion trends this season according to In Style magazine, include florals and black + gold. I wanted to show you how you can easily translate this from the runway right to your home.  First up is the floral frenzy - everything floral with bright colors on dresses, handbags and shoes. This can easily move to the home by adding wallpaper with bold and colorful flowers or fabrics that scream 'look at me' on a chair. Would you add this floral decor in your home? It is kind of like a 'shabby chic' on caffeine!

On the runway:

To Home...

The second trend as seen in 'In Style' mag is black and gold.  Now I love black + white, but, this color combo definitely offers a little more glam and a little more chic to the usual combo.  I found some decorating inspiration for both your wardrobe and your home:

To Home:

I love the black and gold and have seen a lot of it in Jen's apartment over at Made by Girl - I love her style.  I wear a lot of black and white and to refresh my look, I can always add gold jewelry to perk up the outfit and as a great accent.

Will you be updating your wardrobe to include either of these trends?  I would probably add a colorful scarf to an outfit instead of floral head to toe - I am petite and I'm afraid it would overwhelm my small frame!

Have a great week!

Sunday in the kitchen...

I thought these yellows and golds would be a nice reflection of the autumn season here in New England...so cozy and comforting...love the metal lamp and textured shades too.  The mix of the wood and creamy colors makes it look like a kitchen I'd want to bake a pumpkin pie in, how about you? care to join me for a cup of tea and pie?? Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

Spaaahhh...

Thinking of relaxing on a Monday after work...this bath looked so inviting and the wallpaper is my absolute fave from Osborne & Little (Asuka)...I love, love it...the big tub and the bit of gold fabric at the window - makes me want a new bath right now...my beloved little kitty cat had a low blood sugar episode tonight, but, after getting Karo syrup in his mouth and making sure he ate, he is thankfully, ok now (and asleep in a little box). I thought I was going to rush him to emergency...hence, the relaxing spa image...now I can breathe...
