Let it snow...

Living in New England, you get used to this scene and you either love it or...think its ok. We just got blasted with snow overnight as the storm that walloped Washington DC and New York has made its way up to Boston and points north. Looks like it will be a white Christmas this year, which suits me just fine! Is it snowing where you live? do you like snow at the holidays?

NEW! ARTIST OF THE WEEK...TRISH MCCOY

Title: Another Roadside Attraction

Debuting today is my new feature, Artist of the Week, to honor excellence around the web of artists and photographers whose work cannot go unnoticed. Because there are so many great works of art out there, I thought it would be fun to feature various mediums weekly or biweekly.

First up is Trish McCoy, whose gorgeous pictures of Montana expertly capture the 'Big Sky' scenery and mountains. Having spent quite a bit of time there, these pictures make me want to hop on a plane and visit!

All of these images are available in varying standard sizes for purchase. Purchase as a poster image (black border at top and bottom of print with signature) or limited edition (no black borders with signature) and all can be ordered framed or unframed. Please email Trish http://www.info@trishmccoy.org or me http://www.monacointeriors76@yahoo.com for more information.

Deck the halls!...

Its Christmas so I took the time over the last couple of days to decorate my home and this year, armed with inspiration from the Holiday House tour (as per my last post), incorporated new ideas I am really happy with. There are so many different ways to decorate for the holidays, I just decided to go with the flow, as they say.
On a different note, I am very excited to bring something unique to my blog next week which I think will be inspiring and fun. I'll leave it as a surprise, so do check back and see what I have in store you!
Have a great weekend - are you decorating this year?? for those buying trees, will you buy real or artificial? Or, will you choose and cut your own?

Holiday decorations...

Last week I finished decorating two rooms for a Holiday House tour locally and it was publicized in the paper. Very exciting and exhausting as two full days were spent getting the house in order for 700-1000 people traipsing through over two days. Now that I have my decorations back I fully plan to execute some new holiday decorating ideas around my house. Is your house ready for Christmas yet? do you do a lot of decorating or just place some key pieces around each room?
I am looking forward to it this year for the first time!

Obsessions anyone?

On the heels of my last post, I have to admit, I get hooked on certain books, magazines and TV that I just simply can't stop watching or reading. House Beautiful, Blogging for Bliss, Fabric Inspirations and Freestyle are just some of the things I can't stop looking at. I carry the Blogging for Bliss book around with me from room to room just in case I need to reference it! and don't even ask about 'The House of Eliott' - I have now watched the whole series on DVD 4 times since July!!

I highly recommend it - the story follows two sisters in 1920's London as they navigate the tough waters of starting their own 'haute couture' dressmaking company. It is such a timely story as the depression hits London and as women, they find it difficult to get financing. Follow the lives and loves of these two and I guarantee you will enjoy it. Are you obsessed with any TV, book or magazine? do you carry it around with you? do you need that constant visual stimulation? Do tell!

My laptop is back from the 'hospital' and I can post again! I got my copy of House Beautiful last week and fell in love with Jill Brinson's beautiful condo in a rustic but modern style...love the furniture, the wallpaper, the different doors in the living room and the textiles are really earthy. Just can't put the mag down! Enjoy the pictures!
