Dear Design Diary...bedroom love...

I have to admit I LOVE lounging around on Sunday mornings and if it goes into the afternoon, oh well right?  Love having my coffee while I blog and surf the net.  Now its time to actually get some things done ,so before I shower and go off shopping and hit the beach for a much needed long walk, here is a beautiful bedroom I wouldn't mind hanging out in.  LOVE the pinks and florals - do you? Best of MI...Spaah on Sunday...The Maldives...

WELCOME!

A lot has happened in my life since I posted this - life changing events that are huge, so this photo speaks to me on a very cold winter Sunday. What I wouldn't give to be right here, right now - how fantastic that would be. Not a surprise the resort is called 'Shangri-La, right?!! 

The Maldives have just been added to my bucket list.  What travel destinations are on your bucket list?  Start saving now! Have a great Sunday- I won't be watching the Super Bowl, but, I will be watching 'Downton Abbey' - I'm addicted are you?

Spaah on Sunday...

Timing is everything right? So, how strange that just as the Royal Wedding has finally happened and been months in planning, Kohler has introduced the beautiful new Tresham collection that looks part American country and part British aristocrat.  I have a client who is looking for a vanity with similar proportions, and we are looking at a custom cabinet, but, with the new Tresham collection, this is already the style she is looking for. What do you think?

The other end of the bathroom with the shower unit and new vanity on the right and the smart looking toilet to the left...

The vanity my client will love...two cabinets either side of a smaller shelf or cabinet in the middle...I want that rug!

Notice the square lines of both these pieces and how pretty they look against the wainscoting...the swirly circles wallpaper is a nice contrast against the square outline of toilet and pedestal.

How is your Sunday shaping up?  I will be going for a long walk followed by some painting projects I have waiting for me.  Have a good rest of the weekend!

Spaah on Easter Sunday...

I just love the rustic look of this gorgeous bathroom, which, I think is in Australia. I love the slipper tub in the middle of the room with soothing colors, sparkly chandelier, white walls and open windows. The worn pale blue wood floor adds some subtle color. Cool breezes no doubt...hope you all have a lovely Easter...

Spaah on Sunday...

Back to the UK for an inspiring spa-like bath. This beautiful screen caught my eye and I can't help but choose bathrooms with freestanding tubs. I guess they say 'spa' to me more than anything else. This ultra-modern bath manages to look fresh and relaxing with shiny surfaces, bright orange flower screen and cool stool.

Psst...if you look closely, that's a bed in the background so how cool is it that the bath is incorporated right in the bedroom? 

I have some painting and decorating projects to do, and the weather is finally starting to cooperate!

Spaah on Sunday...the list...

Sunday is a great day for relaxing, doing nothing, kerfuffling, reading, watching mindless TV or...taking a relaxing bath...let's go to the spa...:)

For total well-being here is a list of the best reasons to have a spa on Sunday -

*to relax the muscles
*meditate
*feel weightless in water
*clear the mind of negative thoughts
*focus on breathing
*think positive thoughts
*RELIEVE STRESS!!

A little light music might help and a good book or magazine with something comfortable to prop your head up will add to the ambience. We will explore other bath experiences next week, but for now, enjoy this picture and let 'Calgon take you away!'

This is the sort of bathroom I envision for the perfect spa...the claw foot tub, soothing colors, soft furnishings and beautiful wallpaper. This is a woman's room for sure. Hope you have a relaxing Sunday!

This caught my eye because it has a cool retro vintage vibe and is also Shabby Chic. Sporting Cath Kidston prints and a gorgeous roll-top tub right in the middle of the room, this wins for where I'd like to be on this lazy Sunday. The sparkly chandelier lends a bit of glamour and the rustic chair keeps it down to earth at the same time. What a great bath!

Spaah on Sunday...with a twist...

I came across the artwork of Shann Spishak on Etsy and thought this was the perfect image for a lazy Sunday. Since claw foot tubs are my favorite, this beautiful painting conveys the relaxation and colors that are great for a day when we had to turn the clocks ahead. I just love the details, including the painting by Monet, the rug, the towels, the little vase with a flower and the glass of cognac. These are three new spectacular tubs from Kohler and each is listed over $6,000.00...so, if you have that kind of budget and you love freestanding tubs in Honed White, prepare yourself. These tubs are gorgeous and will fit any design scheme. Just plan on a little extra room as each tub is about 5.5' to 7.5' of pure relaxation and scream 'spaaahh' to me!

Spaah on Sunday...

This beautiful French farmhouse bathroom really resonates with me on this sleepy, very cold and windy Sunday in New England. The wind has been howling for two days now with scattered power outages across the state. The house still seems a bit cold, so a warm cat and clothes are in order!! This bath was featured in Cote de Texas' recent blog post about houses to rent in Provence.

Like the kitchen highlighted yesterday, the stone walls and earthy colors make this bathroom, I think, pretty spectacular. A nice long soak in the tub would be wonderful today.  In my daydream, it is summer and if the window is open, there will be the smell of lavender wafting in and...ok, back to reality here...:( Enjoy your Sunday!!

Spaah on Sunday...

Eric Cohler designed this towering spa for the Kohler Design Center in Wisconsin. The standout is the 14 foot soaring shower, which you have to walk through to get to the powder room. He was inspired by Roman architecture and chose earth colors to give the visitor a truly relaxing, serene experience. It is a blend of 'comtemporary and Renaissance' using Kohler fixtures and Ann Sacks tiles. Imagine taking a shower here...aaahhh...

Spaaah on Sunday...

This is an interesting little British bathroom in an attic...but I like that it looks more like a room than a bathroom. I have a bad cold and cough and would love to lounge in this tub for awhile!  Note the blue and white china on the cabinet, the stone wall, wood beams and cozy little mirror. I'm not feeling the sink and tub bases at all. I would have had a totally different style - perhaps a pedestal sink and claw foot tub instead? It is not my style, but it looks homey and relaxing. Do you like this style? or do you prefer a 'hotel' or traditional style bath?

Spaaah on Sunday...

Its a bit gloomy and rainy here in New England, so I thought a pretty and sunny yellow spa bathroom would be a nice little bright spot. This art deco-style bath is so big and inviting with a leather chair and roomy tub, I just want to jump in, don't you?

I also love the architectural detail alcoves around the sink and tub as well as the linen cabinet tucked in the corner. The glossy black floor anchors the whole room. And look at that chandelier! Would you do your bath in yellow tile? if not, what colors or color combination would you choose? I am meeting a friend for lunch later, what are your plans for this lazy Sunday?

Spaahhh on Sunday...

I had such a busy week and worked yesterday so I didn't get a chance to post my usual kitchen pic. My co-worker and I were lamenting how we would love to own a Bain Ultra tub and then we added our own elements with Swanstone walls and sink counter in Tahiti Blue. Then we decided to add the the beadboard around the tub. Or you could do a marble effect...or change the color to green or white...either way, this is my idea for a chic bathroom:

Except it would be in Tahiti Blue...

Hmmm, what about the floor? Maybe a blue and white tile to match the Tahiti Blue...

The Bain Ultra is the kicker for me...a soaker is fine, but, let's face it - the air bubbles would be IDEAL! So, sit back and relax, its Sunday! Have a great week and thank you for visiting with  me here again, I love blogging for you.

Today we are going somewhere exotic for a different kind of spa treatment...Africa!  I love the idea of a safari by day and spa treatment or relaxing hot bath to wind down the end of your busy excursion after spotting lions, tigers and gazelles!  Do you? What is your dream destination?  A safari is mine, minus the bugs and diseases...of course!
